THE MISSION OF SCOUTING
The mission of scouting is to contribute to the education of young people through a value system based on the Scout Promise and Law to help build a better world where people are self- fulfilled as individuals.
This is achieved by involving them throughout their formative years in a non- formal educational process Using a specific method that makes each individual the principal agent in his or her development as a self-reliant supportive responsible and committed person.
Assisting them to establish a value system based upon spiritual social and personal principles as expressed in the Promise and Law.
A MISSION STATEMENT FOR SCOUTING
For the first time ever a statement on the mission of scouting was adopted at the 35th World Scout Conference in Durban 1999.
Scouts adopt a code of living that is known as the scout law .In the younger age sections the law is simplified commensurate with the age. One of the most important aspects of the Scout Law is that members voluntarily undertake to live by it. The Scouting program is designed to help members The Scouting program is designed to help members to learn to live by it.

THE SCOUT PROMISE
There are two versions of the Scout Promise.
The individual taking the Promise may choose to use either of the following;
Version 1
- On my honor
- I promise that I will do my best
- To do my duty to my God and
- To the Queen of Australia
- To help other people and
- To live by the Scout Law
Version 2
- On my honor
- I promise that I will do my best
- To do my duty to my God and
- To Australia
- To help other people and
- To live by the Scout Law
