Fernpark Pony & Riding club is the newly amalgamated club of North West Pony Club (Burnie) & Penguin Pony Club. Two new grounds are maintained for our use. They are Fernglade Equestrian Centre in Burnie and Jaro Park in Penguin. Our rallies alternate between these two grounds.
We would like to help you become part of this club and will inform you of some of our requirements so you can participate to your fullest.
We are one of 24 clubs in Tasmania affiliated with the P.C.A.T. (Pony Club Association of Tasmania). Pony Club is a youth movement - its aims are :-

To encourage young people to ride and to learn to enjoy all
kinds of sport concerned with horses and riding.
To provide instruction in riding and Horse mastership and to instill in members the proper care of their animals. To promote the highest ideals of sportsmanship, citizenship and loyalty, thereby cultivating strength of character and self discipline. We are also aiming to have lots of FUN! |
Rules
* The District Commissioner (known as the D.C.) is in charge of the club and works in close co-operation with the club committee.
* Riders are responsible to the District Commissioner.
* What you are told to do by him/her should be done.
* Riders must obey the club's rules and any instructions at all times.
Parents may be interested in purchasing the P.C.A.T. handbook which includes a wealth of information.
Subscriptions
Subscriptions need to be kept at a level to allow the club to meet annual overhead costs such as lease of grounds, Council rates, electricity and telephone bills, insurance, etc.
PCAT Regulations stipulate that no rider is allowed to ride on club grounds unless insurance is paid up. Subscriptions are due to be paid by 30th September each year.

Uniforms
Members are required to purchase a uniform as soon as possible after joining, consisting of :-

Sky blue Shirt (Long or short sleeve) and navy blue tie Fawn Jodhpurs Short riding boots or black top boots Approved safety helmet (Australian Standard AS/NZ 3838) - to be worn at all times when mounted Maroon saddle blanket with navy binding Club polo or rugby top (optional, these can be worn at rallies and for cross country only) |
Full uniform must be worn when representing the club, including at presentations
